The Fisherman's Retreat Is Now Closed

Since 1992

33 Years. Countless Memories. One Incredible Journey.

From a small family-run pub with the famous “Big Chair” to a place of weddings, whisky tastings, bonfire nights and Sunday roasts — The Fisherman’s Retreat has been part of your story, just as you’ve been part of ours.

It Was Never Just a Restaurant.

For 33 years, The Fisherman’s Retreat has been more than a place to eat and drink.

It was where:
– Families gathered for Sunday lunch.
– Couples celebrated anniversaries.
– Friends met “for one pint” that turned into three.
– Children climbed onto the “Big Chair” for that obligatory photograph.
– Bonfire nights lit up the sky.
– Weddings filled the room with laughter.
– Whisky tastings sparked new passions.

What began as a small, family-run business became a community landmark – shaped not just by us, but by every single person who walked through our doors.

And that includes you.

Built on Family. Sustained by Community

When we first opened our doors, we could never have imagined the journey ahead.

From busy Saturday nights to quiet winter afternoons by the window…
From pints pulled to drams poured…
From first dates to retirement parties…

Every chapter was written together.

We’ve shared laughter, raised glasses, weathered storms, and celebrated milestones – side by side.

A Look Back Through The Years

You might spot a familiar face.
You might find a forgotten memory.
You might even find yourself.

The End of One Era… And the Beginning of Another.

In February 2026, we closed the restaurant doors for the final time.

It was emotional. It was overwhelming. It was unforgettable.

But The Fisherman’s Retreat isn’t disappearing.

It’s evolving.

While the restaurant chapter has closed, our passion for whisky, wine, and craftsmanship continues – through our online Whisky & Wine Shop.

The spirit of The Retreat lives on in every carefully selected bottle.
